900 Hour Part-Time (September 2022-August 2023)

 

Frontier Community Action Agency - Client Outreach Assistant (Winnemucca)

Client Outreach Assistant will identify, outreach and recruit eligible program participants and volunteers, deliver local community presentations on eligibility and program services, collect, organize and analyze information about program participants through records, tests, interviews and professional sources, meet with clients to determine suitability for program participation and develop individualized case plans, assist in the preparation and completion of reports as required by Frontier Community Action Agency (FCAA). Active participation in the Family Stability Council, Community Breakfast and any other outreach activities, attend staff and other meetings and trainings as required, respect confidentiality in discussing participant/consumer, staff, volunteers and organizational matters.

 

Pleasant Senior Center – Elder Program Assistant (Winnemucca)

The Elder Program Assistant will help the Senior Center offer support and State/National program information to clients through one on one counseling and information sharing. The AmeriCorps member will support individuals making choices which affect their health and financial well-being. This position will have access to vulnerable populations. Become a State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) volunteer to assist clients with Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits; gain knowledge of community elder resources and help connect clients with appropriate services; assist clients with benefits counseling to insure they are getting all the services they need to maintain an independent lifestyle; make referrals to other agencies and programs when appropriate; maintain and submit contact records; promote awareness of senior services offered and assist with on-going volunteer recruitment for related grant programs.

 

Nevada Outdoor School – Part-Time Outdoor Educator (Winnemucca and Elko)

Schedule M-F 9:00 am – 2:00 pm or M-F 3:00 pm -7:00pm

Outdoor Educator will deliver and assist with planning and coordination of all of the educational programs of Nevada Outdoor School including Nature in My World, Nature Explorers, summer camps, special events, and assist with field trip implementation. Support community focus programs such as community hikes, Nature Programs; Outreach events; Road shows, Nature Clubs. Enter participant numbers into database and help to compile monthly direct results reporting, assist with development and utilize assessment tools and/or evaluations, promote Nevada Outdoor School's educational program through various forms of media - via media, assist in recruiting volunteers for educational programs as required, assist in recruiting youth for elective programs, attend special events. Will attend trainings, seminars/conference related to service objectives and career development. Programs delivery occurs in six rural Nevada counties, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Pershing and White Pine. Overnight travel is required at times, but always prearranged.

Friends of Nevada Wilderness - Springs Monitoring Technician (Las Vegas)

AmeriCorps Springs Monitoring Technicians to support spring monitoring efforts throughout Southern Nevada. The Technicians will sample spring water quality, assist in spring restoration, support outreach communication and activities, and conduct data entry. The Technician may have the opportunity to conduct more intensive surveying of riparian vegetation or engage in invertebrate/vertebrate identification, soil/rock type classification, in-depth water chemistry analysis, or other sampling tasks depending on skills and interests. This position will involve a combination of field and office work

 

Friends of Nevada Wilderness - Southern Nevada Stewardship and Outreach Assistant (Las Vegas)

The Southern Nevada Stewardship and Outreach Assistant will assist southern Nevada stewardship and outreach program both in the field and in the office with volunteer recruitment, outreach and stewardship events. The member stewardship component consists of promoting, recruiting and managing volunteers in stewardship events as directed by land managers. On the ground work includes, but not limited to, habitat restoration and native vegetation planting. The candidate will also record accomplishments and complete data entry after project. The outreach component will consist of attending and assisting outreach events. This may include speaking at public events and tabling at various location to promote the work Friends of Nevada Wilderness does and recruiting volunteers. Hands on involvement with the Wild & Scenic Film Festival and promotion will also be included.
