Nevada Outdoor School Naturalist (Elko)

1700 Hour, Full-Time. Elko Naturalists will deliver and assist with planning and coordination of all of the educational programs of Nevada Outdoor School including in-classroom lessons, summer camps, special events, and assist with field trip implementation. On average, the Elko Naturalists will teach eight classes per week and reach 500 students each month. Naturalists will also provide input into the development of kindergarten through sixth grade lesson plans that align with national and state benchmarks and Core standards. The Elko Naturalist will provide local and rural schools in Elko and surrounding areas with 45 minute to 1 hour inquiry-science lessons based on school district and NOS curriculum tied to National standards, deliver Outdoor Ethics programming to schools and special events, plan and facilitate field trips and summer camp programs, plan and teach all activities for weekend volunteer stewardship projects, gather/obtain and keep tidy all necessary educational supplies. Enter participant numbers into database and help to compile monthly direct results reporting, assist with development and utilize assessment tools and/or evaluations, promote Nevada Outdoor School's educational program through various forms of media - via media, assist in recruiting volunteers for educational programs as required, assist in recruiting youth for elective programs, attend trainings, seminars and/or conferences related to service objectives and career development, participate in NOS community and special events.

 

 

Nevada Outdoor School Naturalist (Winnemucca)

1700 Hour, Full-Time. Friends of Black Rock-High Rock Conservation Project and Outreach Coordinator (Gerlach)

1700 Hour, Full-Time. The Conservation Project and Outreach Coordinator will manage and direct conservation activities, recruit and manage volunteers and conduct outreach for stewardship projects. In addition, the member will assist the Executive Director with stewardship projects throughout the Black Rock Desert High rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area (NCA). This position is located in Gerlach, and some nights and weekend work is required. The workload for this position will be split between time spent in the Visitor Center/Office and work in the field. This position will not be responsible for the cash register or any monetary transactions. Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 am-6:00 some weekends will be required. Identify outreach opportunities, participate in volunteer recruitment events, educate the public about the Black Rock Desert region, including assisting visitors at the Visitor's Center in Gerlach with maps and information about the region, support a variety of stewardship and volunteer conservation projects and events within the NCA including scientific monitoring programs to achieve organizational conservation objectives, media outreach including composing articles for website and enewsletter to cultivate volunteers and membership, updating social media sites, posting projects and events to local outlets, assist with event planning and coordination. Promote FBRHR, the NCA and AmeriCorps in a positive manner with the public, train volunteers on proper protocols and procedures, and develop creative solutions to enhance volunteerism, maintain a safe, organized/professional work environment.

 

 

Frontier Community Action Agency Client Outreach Assistant (Winnemucca)

900 Hour, Part-Time. Client Outreach Assistant will identify, outreach and recruit eligible program participants and volunteers, deliver local community presentations on eligibility and program services, collect, organize and analyze information about program participants through records, tests, interviews and professional sources, meet with clients to determine suitability for program participation and develop individualized case plans, assist in the preparation and completion of reports as required by Frontier Community Action Agency (FCAA). Active participation in the Family Stability Council, Community Breakfast and any other outreach activities, attend staff and other meetings and trainings as required, respect confidentiality in discussing participant/consumer, staff, volunteers and organizational matters.

 

Pershing County Elder Program Assistant (Lovelock)

900 Hour, Part-Time. The Elder Program Assistant will help the Senior Center offer support and State/National program information to clients through one on one counseling and information sharing. The AmeriCorps member will support individuals making choices which affect their health and financial well-being. This position will have access to vulnerable populations. Become a State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) volunteer to assist clients with Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits; gain knowledge of community elder resources and help connect clients with appropriate services; assist clients with benefits counseling to insure they are getting all the services they need to maintain an independent lifestyle; make referrals to other agencies and programs when appropriate; maintain and submit contact records; promote awareness of senior services offered and assist with on-going volunteer recruitment for related grant programs; visit home-bound to enroll them in services and accompany them to medical appointments; provide advocacy for clients at medical appointments; meet regularly with site supervisor.
