Nevada Volunteers, known previously as the Nevada Commission for National and Community Service, serves as the Governor’s commission to administer AmeriCorps programs throughout Nevada and as the state’s information and resource center for volunteer and service efforts.
Bureau of Land Management
Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Winnemucca Field Office,agency within the U.S. Department of the Interior, which administers 261 million surface acres of America's public lands, located primarily in 12 Western States. The BLM sustains the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. NOS partners with the BLM Winnemucca Field office to bring outdoor education, interpretive programs and volunteer projects to the Black Rock Desert High Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Nevada State Parks
Nevada State Parks plans, develops and maintains a system of parks and recreation areas for the use and enjoyment of residents and visitors. The Division also preserves areas of scenic, historic and scientific significance in Nevada.

The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a Federal-aid assistance program to help States provide and maintain recreational trails for both motorized and non motorized recreational trail use. The program provides funding for all kinds of recreational trail uses, such as pedestrian uses (hiking, running, wheelchair use), bicycling, in-line skating, equestrian use, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, off-road motorcycling, all-terrain vehicle riding, four-wheel driving, or using other off-road motorized vehicles. Each state develops its own procedures to solicit projects from project sponsors, and to select projects for funding, in response to recreational trail needs within the State. National Fish and Wildlife Foundation
HCSD geographic location continues to make the school district highly attractive for all professional positions. HCSD is a progressive public school system located in rural north central Nevada, 170 miles east of Reno, Nevada.The District serves approximately 3,500 students in 11 schools--three K-4 schools, a 5-6 middle school, 7-8 junior high, and a 9-12 high school located in the community of Winnemucca and four K-8 schools and one K-12 school in rural areas throughout Humboldt County.

Since 1971, the Association has created opportunities for its members to improve their skills in creating and delivering programs and services that teach people how to think, not what to think.

The mission of the Elk Foundation is to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat. In support of this mission the Elk Foundation is committed to:

  • Promoting the sound management of wild, free-ranging elk, which may be hunted or otherwise enjoyed;
  • Fostering cooperation among federal, state, tribal and private organizations and individuals in wildlife management and habitat conservation; and

4-H is a community of young people across America learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H began a century ago as an educational program for the nation's rural youth. Today, 4-H meets the needs of and engages young people in positive youth development experiences. 4-H is the youth development education program of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
The Turquoise Ridge property is located in the Potosi Mining District, about 70 kilometres northeast of Winnemucca, Nevada, on the eastern flank of the Osgood Mountains. Turquoise Ridge uses underhand cut-and-fill mining methods due to the relatively low rock quality in the ore zones. Ore is transported to Newmont’s Twin Creeks mill for processing. The refractory gold ore is treated by pressure oxidation technology and gold is recovered using conventional carbon-in-leach technology.

Newmont has been pouring gold in Nevada for nearly 50 years along a 100-mile stretch of highway in the north section of the state. Our Nevada properties operate as an integrated unit, and together, they boast the widest variety of processing methods of any gold mining complex in the world. This allows us to maximize economic recovery of gold from a wide range of ore types and grades. Operations include 14 open-pit and four underground mines and 14 processing facilities. In addition to gold, our operations produce silver and copper.

The mission of the Nevada Muley's organization (NMO) is to ensure conservation of mule deer and their habitats in Nevada. NMO is committed to the following:

  • To restore, improve and protect mule deer habitat resulting in self-sustaining and healthy deer population in Nevada.
  • To encourage and support responsible wildlife management with cooperative interactions with government agencies, private organizations and landowners in Nevada.
  • To promote public education and scientific research related to mule deer and wildlife management in Nevada.
  • To support and encourage responsible and ethical behavior and awareness of issues among those whose actions affect mule deer in Nevada.
  • Recognize licensed hunting as an important component of mule deer conservation in Nevada.
  • Educating the public about habitat conservation and the value of hunting ethics in wildlife management.
  • Support mule deer related conservation educational opportunities within the regional school system(s).

American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

The Northern Nevada American Red Cross chapter area covers 87,000 square miles with a population of over 620,000 people. Our chapter territory is from Tonopah north, with our main chapter in Reno and branch offices in Elko, Incline Village and Winnemucca.

Humboldt Development Authority is working to identify and develop economic improvement opportunities, provide recommendations concerning economic development and improvement to the governing bodies of the City of Winnemucca and Humboldt County, and to assist in the attraction, retention, expansion, and growth of business that is compatible with the interests and concerns of the residents of Winnemucca and Humboldt County.
Safe Haven Zoo
Lander County School District is located in beautiful Battle Mountain and Austin, Nevada, two small communities nestled between several mountain ranges in northeastern Nevada. Their K-12 public school district has an enrollment of approximately 1,300 students and offers comprehensive curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs through two high schools.  Their district is renowned for its hospitality and for producing outstanding academic and activity performance. All teachers continue working on curriculum, exhibiting curriculum on the Internet for parents and others to review, and planning assessment, which will measure the success of these efforts.
The Wells Family Resource Center exists to provide an open center to meet the needs of children/parents/families. The Wells community has no other open forum where they can go to seek assistance, help, support or referral to other resources. In addition, the Wells Family Resource Center’s After School Connection program for elementary age children operates four days a week throughout the school year, giving children a safe and fun environment with a variety of different activities. “Steps for Success” is a new program intended to prepare 4- and 5-year-olds for kindergarten. “Early Steps to Learning” helps 2- and 3-year-olds with peer socialization, improves language and communication skills and provides a smooth separation from parents into an environment that supports children’s learning through their natural instinct of exploration.   The Silver Sage Senior Center mission is to provide hot lunches, Meals-on-Wheels and transportation for frail/disabled, and elderly clients within a 30-mile radius service area. Participants report improved physical, mental and dietary health so they can maintain their independence. In addition to a healthy diet, seniors enjoy socializing with others and participating in recreational activities.
