Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the mountains and the stars up above. Let them look at the beauty of the waters and the trees and flowers on earth. They will then begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education.

Interpretive Kit

  • Soldier Meadows – 10,000 Years of Camping

Information highlights the emigrant experience of the Soldier Meadows area.  The kit also contains information regarding threatened species and critical habitat of the area.  Activities include:  Camping Fashion – From prehistoric times to modern day camping, what different generations of people have worn (or not) over a 10,000 year period.  Who would use this? – A placement activity that challenges students to identify elements of survival and attribute each to the corresponding generations.  Nevada’s Threatened and Endangered Species Lesson Plan – Students learn about biodiversity, ecoregions, threatened, endangered and extinct species.  Students learn to identify species at risk in Nevada and at Soldier Meadows.
